#3 – TRAVEL TO MURCHISON FALLS - SUNDAY JULY 21, 2024

We planned out everything, and our guide/driver, Twaha, has put it all together for us.  Before we leave Entebbe, we check out the Uganda Wildlife Education Center (UWEC).  It’s more a zoo than a wildlife center so it wasn’t perfect, but they are doing some good things like repopulating and rehoming endangered rhinos.

The Uganda Wildlife Education Center (UWEC)

One of the really cool things at the center were the golden orb spiders EVERYWHERE.

On to Murchison Falls

After the UWEC, a short 90 min flight gets us to Murchison Falls.  This is home to the largest game park in Uganda, one of the world’s most powerful waterfalls, and is close to the start of the Nile River.  It’s also home to some very rare birds, including the prehistoric and hard to find Shoebill Stork.

We’re staying at the Nile Safari Lodge. Since we’re the only ones at the lodge, we get upgraded to the honeymoon suite.  The suite is huge, and right on the banks of the hippo and croc filled Nile.

Needing to get some exercise after all of the traveling, we spend the afternoon on a guided hike to see the falls up close.

Tomorrow, we're doing a game drive and boat safari.
