We leave Kibale forest and take a 45 min flight into Bwindi, where we’re staying at the Mahogany Springs Lodge.  Bwindi is home to half of the remaining (and much endangered) mountain gorillas in the world. 

We took a road trip to our next stop – Kibale (Chee-Ba-lee) forest, home to the best chimpanzee trekking in Uganda.  After was a six hour drive, we’re at Chimpundu Lodge for the next two nights.  The lodge is quiet, because, yep, we’re the only ones here.  Well, just us and the baboons.

Our two full days here were packed.  We had a game drive through the Murchison Falls park, two amazing boat safaris along the Nile, and a trip to nearby Budongo Forest to look for chimpanzees. 

We planned out everything, and our guide/driver, Twaha, has put it all together for us.  Before we leave Entebbe, we check out the Uganda Wildlife Education Center (UWEC).  It’s more a zoo than a wildlife center so it wasn’t perfect, but they are doing some good things like repopulating and rehoming endangered rhinos.

We’re flying right back out again tomorrow morning, so we stay at the nearby K Hotel Entebbe.  After a shower, dinner on the rooftop, and a good night’s sleep (plus local beer and Ugandan gin), we’re ready for the real trip to begin.
