Finally, the safari. We stayed on the Phinda reserve in the Kwa-Zulu Natale region, at the Zuka lodge. Zuka has only 4 rooms, so by booking 3 of them we had the lodge to ourselves. Private game drives, butler, and chef.
Even without going out on the drives, the unfenced lodge had animals galore wandering through. Just sitting at the main lodge or on our room deck brought us antelope (Nyalla and Impala), Vervet monkeys, Warthogs, and an assortment of lizards, birds and insects.
Sometimes the door to our lodge was blocked by Nyalla that ignored us as we walked by. Sometimes even they watched us through the windows.
The lodge is so calm and serene. At least, for now.
We're being watched
The one time the lodge wasn't serene.
Why does this Vervet look mad? Maybe because Ruth kept playing peek-a-boo with one of the young ones. Did the adults like it?
They did not. They surrounded our room.
